PROJECT:

31 NORTH MAIN

The challenge here was how to transform two small side-by-side stores converted from private unassuming homes into one cohesive and appealing retail presence in New Hope, PA. With limited windows and no visual connection to the streetscape in the commercial district of this arts village, our design solution was to leverage the available street setback and construct a complete glass front entrance in the classic Italian piazza style. Utilizing classical columns and broken pediment, the newly refreshed façade engages shoppers and passersby with full height and generous glass display windows. The interior was designed to showcase and sell Italian pottery, inspiring our use of handcrafted materials such as Venetian plaster on the walls and ceilings, plus travertine flooring for a welcoming array of Italianate architectural elements.
