This property lies within the historic district of Carversville, hence all of our work went through the HARB (Historic Architectural Review Board) approval process. Originally located on what had been a school for the blind, the current owners were the first to own the property outside of the original family who had lived there for three generations. As with many of the projects we work on, there were beautiful long vistas and scenic surroundings.
Overlooking the village of Carversville, our goal was to leverage the views and vistas in the most optimal and respectful manner. We retained all the original stone walls in the front, maintaining a traditional feel, while the rear spaces were built terraced toward the view with glass walls and high ceilings, away from the historic side of the property.
